Servo Motors

Servo Motors

Servo motors are rotary or linear actuators that allow precise control of angular or linear position, velocity, and acceleration. The most common type is the DC Servo Motor, using a DC power source and feedback for accurate positioning. AC Servo Motors operate on alternating current, offering higher torque and efficiency for industrial use. Continuous Rotation Servos rotate 360 degrees continuously, unlike standard servos limited to 180–270 degrees. Linear Servo Motors produce straight-line motion, ideal for applications requiring direct linear force.

In robotics, servo motors control joint movements in robotic arms and humanoid robots. RC vehicles (cars, planes, boats) use servos for steering, throttle, and control surface adjustments. Industrial automation employs AC servos in CNC machines for precise tool positioning. Camera systems rely on servos for autofocus and gimbal stabilization in drones and photography. Medical devices use miniature servos in prosthetic limbs and surgical robots for delicate operations.
